    Quick catch-up

    July 9, 2007

I’ve got a few minutes to write a quick catch-up post, so here goes.

I’m bowing out of Best Shot Monday this week because I didn’t take many pics last week and, of the ones I did take, I haven’t had time to edit them. I hope to be back up again next week. :)

On Friday, Ava had her 3-year check-up. She’s healthy and growing well - 38 inches tall and 36 lbs. There were a couple of things that I was concerned about (hearing and speech stuff) that I brought up with the doctor and will write more about them another time after we know more information.

This weekend we went to the MoveOn.org party for the Live Earth celebration. My friend had a great turnout at her party. It was great to see so many people interested in doing their part to help save mother Earth. I didn’t get to mingle much (having two kids in tow), but I did get a chance to chat with a friend who I hadn’t talked to in a while. It was good to catch up with her.

On Sunday, the family and I went to a local reservoir for a little swimming. Not long after we arrived, however, the clouds rolled in and it started lightning. Between that and some unsavory people in attendance (like a guy who was smoking while in the swimming area and then when he was done, he dropped his cigarette right in the water - gross), we decided to cut our stay short. And despite the water being cold, Ava and Julian both enjoyed themselves.

In between activities this weekend, I was working hard on a new CafePress store. I’m really excited about it and hope to finish it up this week so I can announce it! It’s mostly geared towards babies and kids, though some of my designs work well for adults too. More on that at a later date.

I’m playing a catch up on laundry and housework today, as well as taking the kids to the park and doing a little more work on the API auction (go take a look - click on catalog at the top to get to the items up for bidding - and bid on something yourself ;) - only 12 days left and lots of great stuff to be had!), so I gotta run.

    Win a t-shirt - photo contest

Just a reminder that I am still accepting entries for the World Breastfeeding Week photo contest to win an “I make milk. What’s your superpower?” or a “Lactivist” t-shirt. The details are here. I’ve received 16 entries so far (all of them are wonderful - I don’t know how I’m going to choose a winner!) and hope to at least double that before the end of the contest.
Special thanks to all of the bloggers who have put up links to the contest on your blogs. I appreciate you spreading the word!
Deadline to enter is Sunday, July 15.
Oh, and I’ve decided to make some sort of photo collage out of the entries which I will share on my blog during World Breastfeeding Week (Aug. 1-8).

And while we’re on the subject of winning pro-breastfeeding t-shirts, The Lactivist is also currently running a contest. Write a quote for a picture of her cute little boy, and you could win a shirt from her store!

    Updated to add:
Celebrity Baby Blog is also asking for breastfeeding pictures to celebrate WBW, so once you submit yours to me, head on over there and submit it to her too. :)
