Three videos

To continue with the World Breastfeeding Week theme and celebration, today I’m sharing three videos that all have to do with breastfeeding.

The first is about the history of La Leche League which was founded in 1956 by seven suburban Chicago women. It’s a great video and very interesting to learn about LLL’s roots (and somewhat disturbing to learn about the advice doctors were giving at the time – some things never change). I’m so thankful these women got together and did what they did.
In 1956, only 20% of babies were breast-fed at birth. In 2006, it was up to 71%. Let’s hope that number keeps on climbing.

The second is an eye-opening public service announcement from Australia. – You wouldn’t eat in a bathroom. Why should a baby? I wish that could get air time here in the states.

The third is a video of simultaneous breastfeeding for Guinness world record in Philippines on May 2, 2007. Awesome!

  • And be sure to send me your nursing pictures for inclusion in my WBW breastfeeding photo collage by Aug. 4.
  • Also, please take a minute to read this post about a rare, but serious type of breast cancer that appears without a lump. It’s what WhyMommy (who is currently battling this disease) wishes she would’ve known before she was diagnosed. Thanks!
