A consumer is born

Walmart

A conversation between Jody AKA Daddy and Ava (3) as they were out in the car running errands on Sunday.

Ava: “I don’t want to go home. I want to go to Walmart.”

Daddy: “We don’t really go to Walmart, we go to Target.”

Ava: “We shouldn’t go to Target. That’s what the girl said.”

Daddy: “The girl? Where at?”

Ava: “The girl and the boy who was making pictures.”

Daddy: “Why do you want to go to Walmart?”

Ava: “I want to buy everything that I want.”

Apparently Walmart is recruiting them young these days.

The funny this is, we really don’t go to Walmart, so I’m not sure where she got this idea, though Jody suspects she overheard someone talking about Walmart while we were at the mandala creation on Saturday. Despite that fact that we don’t do Walmart, Jody decided to take her anyway to give me some extra time without them in the house Sunday morning.

After hanging out at the “Supercenter” for a little while, they headed to the parking lot. As they were walking out, Ava said she wanted to go back in. Jody asked her why and she replied, “I want to buy flowers for mommy.” Awww. Walmart or not – who can argue with that? ;)

And don’t you just love that picture? God bless the Internet.

  1. Ha-larious! We have the exact same conversations! “We want to go to Walmart” and then I say “We don’t shop at Walmart- we shop at Target.” We haven’t shopped at Walmart since 2006. : )

    Steph

  2. Kids don’t care about the politics of shopping, they just want to go somewhere fun.

My kids tell me Disney World has “everything a kid could ever want.” Thanks commercial television!

  3. LOL – I LOVE that picture! Kids are so funny…they pick up on everything around them. But how sweet she wanted to get you flowers. :)

  4. One is the best things about moving to Florida is I live right near a Target. I dislike Wal-mart SO MUCH!

But they like you said you can’t argue about the flowers things ;). That was sweet.

  5. I love Target – we have always been target lovers – ha! Sadly – we don’t have one in our city let alone our Province so only on our trips to the USA are we able to indulge in some good Target Shopping.

The timeshare we go to in Palm Springs has several Targets within a 20 min radius it’s great. Going there again in December so we are saving up.

  6. Hilarious! We also do Target. I looooove Target. Last time he went to Wal-mart, my hubby saw a rather large woman trying on clothes in the middle of the aisle. He won’t go back, he’s scarred for life!

  7. LOL!! I LOVE Target. I hate going there though…I go for one thing and I end up spending way over what I intended. It is like they put something in the air!

How sweet that she wanted to buy you flowers. (Heart).

  8. ok you have me laughing out loud. The conversation is the best but what about the truck picture…too funny.Yes I caught it!I don’t do Walmart…not too happy with Target either but hey the better choice. LOL

  9. Brilliant!

Before my second daughter could string together a sentence, she used to shriek “Chips Chips” everytime we drove past McDonalds… we had only been there once and she could recognise the big M from a distance!

  10. LOL!
Well we don’t have Walmart here so the temptation isn’t around. But Tim does like to go shopping anyplace really, especially the mall.

Ugh! That lady dressing in the aisle!!! *gag*

  11. I have been debating the whole Wal*mart (they need no free press) thing for ages now and am curious what made you stop shopping there? If you don’t mind my asking of course :) I got here from Steph at Adventures in Babywearing. Thanks for the input! :) Tam OH, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your sources for toys, thanks!
