Best Shot Monday – 9/24/07

With today being the fall equinox, I had this great idea that I was going to take some cool pictures of the moon tonight. At 8 p.m. the moon was shining brightly and the sky was clear. The conditions couldn’t have been better.

By the time the kids were both asleep and I got my stuff (camera, lens, tripod) together to go outside and take pictures, it was 10 p.m., and, dun, dun, dun – the moon was nowhere to be seen. The clouds had rolled in. :(

Feeling hopeful, I got in the car and drove around for 40 minutes wishing for a break in the cloud cover. The break didn’t come.

Feeling defeated as I drove down Main Street, I decided I couldn’t go back home empty handed. I pulled out my camera and took a few shots with a 3 second shutter speed while I drove down the street.

So here’s my last-minute, definitely not the moon, but hey, at least it’s something “best shot.” ;)

  1. It may not be the moon, but it’s still a very cool photo! :)

  2. That’s really cool! I really like it! He he, I decided to go backwards through the comments, so that those at the end wouldn’t get short-changed!!!LOL so you were 1st today! : )

  3. Ok, so it’s not the moon… but it’s an awesome shot anyway!

  4. Coolio! I want to try some of that.
Plus, I bet the 40 minute ride by yourself was pretty nice, too.

  5. Wow, that’s awesome even if it didn’t turn out as planned! looks like art to me.

  6. aw, man…..i hate when that happens. kudos for the idea though…and still a very cool shot!

  7. ooh, i like it! very creative and a good way to make use of what comes your way …when life gives you no moon, take pictures of neon! (or something like that…)

  8. Very cool…even if not the intended outcome. :)
