Icky, Icky, we’re all sicky

November 4, 2007

NaBloPoMo – Day 4

Sorry for the scarce posting this weekend, but we are all sick with a stomach virus. Julian came down with it Thursday night (I can’t count the number of shirts I went through that night from being puked on again and again and again), and by Saturday night Jody, Ava and I all had it as well. It was a rough night and day, but the good news is we all got a nice nap in today, which was desperately needed. I’m hoping we’re over the worst of it now and that Julian doesn’t get it again. (C’mon, mama’s milk – do your thing!)

This virus seems to be particularly contagious (most of the kids at Ava’s preschool, as well as some of their siblings and parents, have had it). My sister has also caught it from being around us for a couple hours on Halloween. And it seems to be worse on adults than it is on kids. Which is good news if you are a kid or the parent of a kid, but also bad news if you are the parent of a kid and you come down with it yourself. The puking phase lasted about 6-8 hours for both Ava and Julian, but it went longer than that for me and was also accompanied by chills, sweats, body aches, delusions, and other fun stuff. Thankfully Jody is slightly better off than me (he always weathers these illnesses better than me) and was able to go up to Vitamin Cottage a bit ago to pick up some more Recharge, chicken broth and soup, and crackers. I’m off to attempt eating some soup now.

Here’s hoping for a puke-free night tonight. And I hope you and yours are staying well this weekend.

P.S. If you are already feeling queasy, it’s not a good idea to do a google image search for vomit. Trust me (and be thankful I didn’t share them with you).
