A family of 4 can save over $1,000.00 annually in water and energy costs right in the shower stall alone!

Sound extreme? Not at all.

Go to the cost saving calculator at www.ShowerManager.com and put in "4" for family members using the shower an average of 20 minutes before using the Shower Manager. Your savings may be even greater if you are in an area of high water and/or energy costs.

Excessive showering is not only a big water and energy waster, it is also the sources of many family feuds over showering times.

I am 'outing' myself - I take close to 20 minute hot showers. I need this challenge! I tried to reduce our water usage as a whole for Crunchy and failed. I will try to use our timer and stop dawdling in there!

I just can't do this. I skip showers so much that I really need to wash thoroughly (mostly my hair) by the time I get around to it :-( My husband and I both already spend significantly less than 5 minutes a day in the shower on average - I think that's in line with the spirit of this challenge, if not the specific rules :-)

This might explain my confusion over why people complain about water bills . . . we are just too lazy to use a lot of water.

I'm trying to become better at showering more quickly. It's harder now that it's warmer and I sometimes need 2 showers a day but I can normally wash without washing my hair in about 3 minutes. So I'm still at 8 minutes on 2 shower days. Darn Humidity. I figure 2 showers a day is better than running AC non stop in terms of saving the planet.

I've also noticed how I had been giving my son more water than he actually needed in the bath. He's equally happy and washed just as well with half the water use.

Summer, how often does your hair need to be washed. Mine is really long too, but I've found that it does not need to be washed every day. I get by with about twice a week, and just put it in a bun for other showers.

I don't need a shower timer, though. I already have one! My area is trying to get everyone to cut their water use by 20 gallons per day, and they were giving them out at local events.

I'm trying to think how I could cut my shower down to 5 minutes. I'm fairly quick already, mostly because I have to gt in and out before the boys destroy things, but 5 minutes seems too rushed to me. Maybe it's because I have really long thick hair.

I'd love to hear what people do to cut their shower time down.
