Well, despite my dreams of driving folks to the polls, I ended up doing a lot of calling and paper-pushing today at the Lyons Obama office. We were all ready to drive folks to the polls, but as someone had warned me when I initially expressed interest in driving folks, most people who had transportation issues just voted by mail.

Still, I was happy to donate my day to a cause I believe in and I truly believe I encouraged a few people to get out and vote today that might otherwise have just let it pass.

Now I'm watching the results trickle in and trying to keep my focus on my hopes and not my fears.

For those who want a "small" task to do on or before election day, our Obama campaign office is organizing getting food for the volunteers and voters, and needs food donations. This can be as simple as picking up a bag of apples or crackers and bringing them to the campaign office on the day...check your local office to see if they have something going on like this!

I blogged about racism and it's effect on the upcoming election and I've been selling Obama Mama shirts and bumper stickers at my cafe press store. Our family has volunteered for the campaign, I'm looking forward to his tv slot tomorrow.

Thanks for taking the time to write this! I am glad I actually inspired one person to action, who will hopefully inspire a few more! This post is timely for me, because truth be told I got a little burnt out and blew-off my canvassing shift on Saturday (what with the parade, no nap and a party in the PM for the munchkin). So...I resolve to get out there and at the least make some more calls, so important to make sure folks get their vote counted! I also need to bake some cookies.

And, last but not least, is there anything we can do to support voters in other states? I was depressed by this post written by one of our fellow mama bloggers down south:

There are many things that your local office can assign you to do while at home either while juggling kids or when they're in bed or busy with your partner.

You've done a great job with these posts. Very articulate. I love when Obama says, "Let's get to work." You inspired me to do more.
Thanks.
